One month wonder (nightmare) - update on Blue Velveteen

First of all I want to apologize to all my readers about my at the time positive review about a new subscription box called Blue Velveteen that came out in September. I feel bad that maybe some people signed up to this box because of the review I wrote and are now fighting to get their money back.
For some of you who don't know what I am talking about here a quick description. Blue Velveteen was a beauty subscription box that did great marketing before it's launch. Many subscription box lovers, me included, got lured in by the fantastic sounding promises of a new beauty subscription box. For just $10 a month they promised deluxe and full size products, similar to Ipsy just without the bag. It sounded good to me, since I cancelled Ipsy because I was not happy anymore with my bags. BV (Blue Velveteen) posted heavily on social media and advertised high end brands and beauty tips. All looked very professional and promising. I signed up with an early access code and our boxes were promised to come before the launch. Since I hate to wait I thought this was a fantastic idea. The box came before the release date as promised and I liked it. I thought it was a good start for BV. You can find my review here. I found out later, that everyone seemed to have gotten different products, some more (like most bloggers) some less (like me). I found that a bit strange but I let it go. Then everyone else started to receive their boxes and most received less products than the bloggers. So naturally and within their right, people started to question the business practices of BV and got mad. Then people got charged but never received their boxes. Big red flag.
When I first received the box I liked it and thought it was good, but I cancelled because I was just not really feeling it after thinking about it for a while and we were moving, having three places and just a lot of costs coming up that I wanted to save some money and cancel unnecessary things (I got rid of all my subs except one, didn't order any Memeboxes etc. It was hard).
Now hearing what is going on with BV I am so glad I cancelled (without any problems, like others had). As of right now BV is no more. They never came out with a second box or third, even though they charged people. Things got even worse when there was absolutely no communication on their part. They never answered their costumers and even pulled all their accounts from social media. WTF!!!!! The owner of BV claimed to be harassed and cyber bullied, but as far now costumers were just asking where their boxes are or how to get their money back. I heard people got charged for November again. So I don't really know what to say besides WTF and shady shady shady.
I just hope things will get sorted out and people will get reimbursed and the owner of BV will made held responsible for her actions.
I guess no more new subs for me.

Launch of the Blue Velveteen box

Blue Velveteen is a brand new beauty subscription box that just launched this month. I got lucky and received one of their pre-release boxes, before they ship out the September box in the middle of the month.
Blue Velveteen cost $10 per month and you will receive handselected beauty products and trendy glamour items shipped to your door. Although their target group is teenagers (or anyone else who likes beauty products?) I thought I will give them a try after the disaster with another subscription service. So I was excited when I found the package from Blue Velveteen in my mailbox today.

Memebox #29 No Makeup Makeup

My No Makeup Makeup Memebox arrived via express today. I'm thrilled. I was shipped Friday from Korea and arrived at my house here in the US on Monday. Whoa! Love getting packages this fast. I got this box in a bundle with the Burst of Color 2 box. Review for that one will follow.

Memebox #14 Zero Cosmetics

Another Memebox unboxing with short review. Looks like I'm busy with my Memeboxes lately. Gotta love Memebox.
This one is the Zero Cosmetics box, it was the second box I've ordered, but I just received it (they have different shipping dates and it comes from Korea). I'm all about chemical free, natural beauty products and this box was described as such. Cosmetics without parabens, phtalates, SLS etc. Free from all the nasties you don't really want on your skin. So I had to jump on this one and get it and boy I'm not disappointed.

Memebox Superbox # 35 Fermented Cosmetics 2

Another happy mail day. My Fermented Cosmetics 2 Memebox arrived today. Fermented Cosmetics? Memebox? Fermented cosmetics has been all the rave in Korea for a while now. We all heard about how good and healthy are fermented food, like kimchi, are for you. So it was just a question of time when the skin care world discovered it. It's still not widely available here in the US but thanks to Memebox we can get these natural goods now here as well.

Memebox Superbox #36 Pore Care 3

Yay! Another Memebox unboxing and quick review. At this point, I'm not sure what my mailman must be thinking of me. I receive packages from all over the world. At least I keep all mail delivery services busy and happy. So a few days ago I got another pink box from Seoul, Korea. Memeboxes come directly from Korea and take a bit to get here, especially when they get stuck in customs. But they don't take much longer than packages from the US per snail mail.

My second box of today was the most anticipated. My Memebox finally came. Memebox for all that don't know what it is, is a beautybox from Korea with amazing Korean make up and skin care, that doesn't require a monthly subscription. You just go to their website here and sign up and then you can see if you like anything and either buy a box or two or three...or nothing at all. Memebox offers different boxes, from the original Memebox, which comes packed with 4-8 deluxe size to full size items. The Superbox which is a themed box and comes only with full size products. Then there are the Lucky Boxes, which come with the most favorite products from previous Memeboxes.

I love getting my little subscription boxes every month and Sample Society is the first one to arrive. Sample Society is a beauty subscription box curated by Allure magazine and cost $15 plus tax (where applicable). The boxes contain 5 deluxe sample size products and are a mix of hair, skin and make up items. You also get a Allure mini mag, which describe the products in your box, and you get a $10 off $50 purchase coupon code to use on their site.
